PUBLIC FORUMS / WORKSHOPS
Three public workshops will be conducted at key points throughout this project. Each workshop is anticipated to begin with an informal open house session. During the open house component, Project Team members will be available to talk with the public in a one-on-one, informal atmosphere. Following each open house session, a formal presentation and/or workshop activity will be conducted. Each of the workshops may also be supplemented by online access where participants can submit comments and questions through the internet.
Workshop #1. The first public meeting was held on July 9th, 2014 at the City of Smyrna Community Center and explained the purpose and function of the JLUS, provided an overview of the military operations at Dobbins ARB including the associated Clay National Guard Center and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Plant #6, introduced project participants, and discussed the JLUS approach and goals. This meeting included a presentation to the public followed by an interactive working session where attendees were invited and encouraged to share their input on potential JLUS issues.
Workshop #2. During this meeting, the public will be provided information regarding the review of compatibility issues, preliminary findings, and conflict resolution strategies. This meeting will include a presentation of the Draft JLUS and recommendations and explanation of the public review and input process. The public and interested stakeholders in attendance will be encouraged to provide feedback either during the meeting via comment cards and an open question and answer session or following the meeting.
Workshop #3. The final public meeting will be held as a special session public hearing with the governing bodies of each participating jurisdiction. This meeting will include a presentation of the Final JLUS report after the public comment period and comments have been addressed. The presentation will revisit the overall JLUS methodology, including the identification of issues and strategies, provide an overview of public comments received, and address the revisions incorporated within the Final JLUS.
As workshop dates and locations are set, links to the agendas and meeting materials will be posted on this page. As the project progresses, materials from previous meetings will be posted here for easy access and remain here for the duration of the project.
